Modarita

This shoot was born from a desire to capture fashion in its most luminous and elevated form—perched high above the city, bathed in golden-hour light, and infused with sleek sophistication. To bring this vision to life, I collaborated with Modarita, a Brisbane-based designer, and sourced a striking model to create something bold, elegant, and effortlessly chic.

Creative Direction & Mood

Golden hour was essential for this concept, allowing us to play with sun flares and light reflections, particularly off the gold sequin jacket and metallic accents we had curated. The interplay of light and texture was a key focus, adding depth and drama to each frame.

For posing, I emphasised feminine silhouettes—arching the body, accentuating curves, and incorporating dynamic hair movement. To balance the softness, I incorporated strong leg lines, assertive expressions, and hands-in-pockets moments to convey confidence and strength.

Location

A rooftop car park was the perfect backdrop, offering both an urban skyline and an open expanse that allowed for striking, wide-angle compositions. However, with surrounding buildings quickly obscuring the setting sun, we had to work efficiently, chasing the last rays of light around the space to maximise the golden glow.

Aesthetic & Styling

The styling was intentionally kept to a refined black-and-gold palette, ensuring a cohesive and luxurious feel throughout the shoot. Bold, statement jewellery complemented the wardrobe, adding an element of high fashion while maintaining an elegant simplicity.

The wardrobe was a mix of carefully selected pieces—signature items from my personal studio collection, elements from the model’s own wardrobe, and three stunning designs from Modarita, including a striking long gown and two sequinned tops that became the centrepieces of the shoot.

The Final Collection

The final images embody a seamless fusion of strength, femininity, and sophistication. There’s a distinct romance to the way the light dances across the gold sequins, and the contrast between softness and power creates a captivating visual story. This collection is a testament to how fashion, light, and movement can come together to create something truly timeless.
